Summary§The high speed of development within the wind energy sector leads to new challenges in the field of wind turbine (WT) drive trains. Regarding the little long term experience with the actual power level of WTs, developments in the range of control, design and test procedures must be furthered and new test facilities have to be made accessible to increase the reliability of WT. To present innovations in the field of WT drive trains and adjust systems the Conference for Wind Power Drives (CWD) will be taking place for the first time from 19th to 20th of March 2013 with two tracks of interest at the Eurogress Aachen. The department drive technology of VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen und Anlagenbau) and the FVA support the CWD conference in order to develop it into a leading event in this sector.§The CWD is designed as an interdisciplinary platform for knowledge and technology transfer between developers, research scientists and operators.§Furthermore, the conference promotes the exchange between industry and university in the field of wind turbine drive trains.§Zusammenfassung§Die hohe Entwicklungsgeschwindigkeit im Bereich der Windenergie führt zu neuen Herausforderungen auf dem Gebiet der Antriebstechnik von Windenergieanlagen (WEA). Um die Zuverlässigkeit von WEA auch im Hinblick auf die geringe Langzeiterfahrung mit den aktuellen Leistungsklassen zu erhöhen, ist es notwendig, Entwicklungen und Innovationen im Bereich von Regelungs-, Berechnungs- und Prüfverfahren voranzutreiben und neue Prüfmöglichkeiten zu erschließen. Um den neuesten Stand der Technik im Bereich der Triebstränge und Verstellsysteme von Windenergieanlagen zu präsentieren, findet vom 19.-20. März 2013 die erste Conference for Wind Power Drives (CWD) als zweizügige Veranstaltung im Eurogress Aachen statt.§Der Fachverband Antriebstechnik im VDMA und die FVA unterstützen die CWD Konferenz, um sie zu einer führenden Veranstaltung in diesem Sektor zu entwickeln.§Die CWD versteht sich als interdisziplinäre Plattform zum Erfahrungs- und Ideenaustausch zwischen Entwicklern, Forschern und Anwendern und soll darüber hinaus den Austausch zwischen Industrie und Hochschule in der Windbranche fördern.
