All Indian Panchangas (almanacs) of whatever variety are a total deviation of the observed sky. The difference as of now in the Makara Samkranti (Uttarayana - Winter Solstice) of January 14 to the actual of December 22 may not be significant but about 9000 years later, Winter Solstice will be found occurring on June 22. How absurd it would be is anybody's imagination. Hence a new Panchanga based on the Moving Zodiac as has been ordained by Varahamihira, Indian Astrologer and Astronomer par excellence, is the need of the hour.
