Book synopsis
The purpose of this short booklet is to provide a brief introduction from an Evangelical perspective to the central issues involved in the debate about human sexuality that is currently taking place in the Church of England. Parts 1 and 2 summarise two key contributions by Bishop Keith Sinclair to the 'Pilling' report of 2013, the document at the heart of the current debate. This material covers the main biblical and theological issues in the debate. Part 3 looks at the interpretation of Scripture in the debate about human sexuality. Part 4 explores a range of scientific issues related to the debate. Part 5 considers how the Church can offer appropriate pastoral care to people with same sex attraction. MARTIN DAVIE is a theological consultant for the Church of England Evangelical Council and the Oxford Centre for Religion in Public Life. He has taught doctrine and church history at both Wycliffe Hall and Oak Hill College.
