Das postgraduale Programm Bauhaus Lab nahm die India Lounge oder 24/42 Chair als Ausgangspunkt, um transkulturelle Designdiskurse zwischen der HfG Ulm (1953 - 1968) und dem Nationalen Institut für Design in Ahmedabad (seit 1961) zu untersuchen. Während der Originalstuhl leider verschwand, geht das, was entdeckt wurde, weit über seine Materialität hinaus. Die Forscher fanden Personen, Netzwerke und fortschrittliche Pädagogiken, die ein detailliertes Bild einer transkulturellen Landschaft der 1960er Jahren zeichnen. Der Stuhl symbolisiert die lebhaften internationalen Debatten darüber, was einen sozial verantwortlichen Designer ausmacht, sowie die damit verbundenen radikalen Pädagogiken der beiden Designschulen.
