Book synopsis

From Hezekiah's reformation to the fall of Jerusalem - and the door left open at the end of exile. Thirteen final lessons completing the Chronicles curriculum.
Volume 4 of Chronicles: Seeking the Lord brings the fifty-two-lesson series to its conclusion, covering the final chapters of 2 Chronicles. These lessons include some of the most dramatic material in the Old Testament: Hezekiah's Passover that reunited a divided people, the astonishing conversion of Manasseh - the worst king in Judah's history - and the rapid collapse of the final kings before the Babylonian exile. The volume closes as Chronicles closes: with Cyrus's voice cutting through the silence of judgment - "Let him go up."

What you will study:
• Hezekiah's reformation - the reopening of the temple, the purification of worship, the restoration of the Levites
• The great Passover: a broken, divided people gathered around the covenant meal
• Hezekiah's response to Assyrian invasion - and the deliverance that followed
• Manasseh: a king so wicked the Chronicler's account is devastating - and so genuinely repentant that God restored him
• Amon and Josiah: the pattern of decision and consequence across a single generation
• Josiah's great reform: the Book of the Law found, the covenant renewed
• The final four kings: a rapid, sad descent
• The fall of Jerusalem: the Chronicler's indictment and his explanation
• The edict of Cyrus: God's sovereignty over world empires, and an open door
• The Son of David and the Church as Covenant Community: the New Testament fulfillment of everything Chronicles pointed toward

The series concludes with two capstone lessons connecting the Chronicler's theology directly to Jesus Christ and the New Testament church.

The series: Chronicles: Seeking the Lord is a four-volume, fifty-two-lesson curriculum covering First and Second Chronicles in their entirety. Volume 4 covers the Summer Quarter (Lessons 40-52).
