Book synopsis
Colin Gormley is the most boring, insignificant man in the universe. Ever. This is the story of how the most boring, insignificant man in the universe ever came to hold the key to it.....
He likes his bland, quiet, predictable life. He avoids ambition. Or rather it avoids him. However, the arrival of a mysterious artefact in the post feeds bland, quiet and predictable into a garden shredder. All Colin wants is tea, toast and time to redecorate his lounge, but his life will never be the same again.
Anyone who comes into contact with the artefact will, at some point, encounter a grizzly end for some inadequately explained reason. Except Colin. All he knows is the cube rattles, but with no means of opening it, the secret remains, well, a secret, until his investigations eventually reveal the cube can be opened.
Thrust into a mystery he didn't ask for that twists and turns like badly managed cabling - with an object he doesn't understand and a string of deaths he can't explain - he's dragged, kicking and screaming (and kidnapped), out of his life and into the spotlight in his attempt to dig up information on the cube. The deeper he digs, the deeper the dark turn of events. Conspiracies and cults grow out of all proportion, plunging the world into utter chaos and war.
The world demands answers and this leads him to the ultimate solution: open the cube. However, some boxes should not be opened....and the ultimate answer carries the ultimate price.
