Presumed-abort and presumed-commit are the two best-known two-phase commit protocols. Presumed-abort is widely implemented. It handles aborting transactions efficiently and requires only a single forced log write at the coordinator in the common case that the transaction commits. It also handles read only transactions efficiently.
