Desirée Rancatore (born 1977 in Palermo, Sicily) is an Italian coloratura soprano of the operatic stage. Desirée Rancatore studied violin and piano before beginning, at the age of 16, to extend her study of singing with her mother and, in Rome, with Margaret Baker Genovesi. At the age of 19 she debuted as Barbarina in The Marriage of Figaro in Salzburg Festival. She returned to the Festival with Die Entfhürung aus dem Serail, Don Carlo (conducted by Lorin Maazel), Jeanne d'Arc au Bûcher (Honegger), Piramo e Tisbe (conducted by Fabio Biondi), and concerts in the Salzburg Mozarteum
