Weltweit leben viele Katholiken in Missions- und Diasporagebieten. Um deren materielle und personelle Unterstützung bemühen sich heute große kirchliche Hilfswerke, etwa 'Missio Aachen' oder das 'Bonifatiuswerk der deutschen Katholiken'. Vergleichbares hat über Jahrhunderte hinweg die Missio Ferdinandea geleistet. Gestiftet im Jahr 1683 von Fürstbischof Ferdinand von Fürstenberg (1626-1683), zielte sie darauf ab, die Seelsorge in Asien, Nordeuropa und Westfalen zu unterstützen. Wie die bedeutende, weithin aber vergessene Stiftung ihren Auftrag bis auf den heutigen Tag erfüllt hat, wird in dieser Studie erstmalig nachgezeichnet.Der Autor:Benjamin Dahlke, geboren 1982. Studium der Philosophie und Theologie in Paderborn, München und Princeton (USA), zur Zeit Promotionsstudium in Mainz (Dogmatik und Ökumenische Theologie).
