In recent years, the study of genre has entered the study of information (Andersen, 2008). Now is the time to systematize, synthesize and contribute with our own perspectives on genre and not only 'apply' genre theory in our own localized studies of information. The agenda of this book is thus two-fold: From various theoretical and analytical positions, this book discusses and illustrates how modern genre studies inform and enrich the study of information. The study of information also makes its own independent contributions to the study of genre. This book demonstrates what the study of information contributes to the study of genre.
