Cooperative learning activities engage students in higher-order thinking skills and shared thinking which enable students to gain a better understanding of the subject matter. Therefore, asking students to read assigned material cooperatively is more effective than individual reading. Furthermore, the experience of working cooperatively with others results in increased motivation. However, one of the problems of implementing cooperative learning is that students are not usually accustomed to working together.
