Book synopsis

After a bloody civil war across the galaxy, fighting against the Corporate Empire of Man, the colony of Quantar has re-connected with the Historians of Old Earth, a techno-monastic order with unimaginably superior knowledge, together building a new fledgling coalition and with it the Unified Space Navy. Lieutenant Peter Cochrane of the Quantar Royal Navy, son of the Grand Admiral himself, is set to begin his posting aboard the Lightship HMS Starbound when disaster strikes. His brother, Derrick, and the entire Quantar contingent of the HMS Impulse have been killed in action when their shuttle was destroyed. Politics demands the remaining son of the Admiral must complete the mission, and so the newly minted Lt. Commander Peter Cochrane must pick up where his brother left off, and do what is necessary to uncover the truth behind the attack and avenge his brother's death while protecting the coalition.
