She holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science from Spelman College. Her work amplifies marginalized voices, serving as a significant form of literary activism. In 2023, she was recognized as a Diversities and Diasporas Fellow by the Global Diversity Foundation. Deaundra resides in Atlanta, Georgia, where she enjoys watching hummingbirds and attending music festivals.
