Book synopsis

Nanoscale ferrites have generated an increasing amount of interest due to the modification that they can induce when they are dispersed into the matrix of a composite. The study of magnetic ferrite nanocomposites requires a multidisciplinary approach, involving novel synthesis techniques and an understanding of physics and surface science.  In some cases, high-level loss may be desired in applications such as heating and EM wave absorption. In most applications, such as power transformers and DC-DC converters, low-level loss is required to achieve a non-dispersive (frequency-independent) permeability spectrum with a high value. In this context, we find an increasing use of ferrite magnetic composite materials in these applications. Magnetic Ferrites and related Nanocomposites covers recent trends of various types of ferrite nanocomposites, evaluating the correlation between structural features and magnetic analysis. Magnetic ferrite nanocomposite materials are generally composed of ferromagnetic particles (grain size in nanometer scale), distributed either in a non-magnetic or magnetic matrix. Ferrite nanocomposites are being developed to provide materials with enhanced magnetic properties (suitable relative permeability and magnetic saturation), with tunable electrical resistivity and permittivity. This book is an important reference source for materials scientists looking to gain an understanding of the nature of ferrite nanocomposites and their impact on modern technology. Covers a wide range of spinal and hexaferrites and related nanocomposites, particularly focusing on their synthesis methods, characterization and applicationsDiscusses the major types and applications of ferrite nanocompositeAssesses the major challenge of manufacturing ferrites and their nanocomposites on an industrial scale
