Book synopsis

On the night of the Winter Solstice, Donovan Shorter, Cade Richards and Simon Barrow walk to the sight of a recently torn down house to watch a cosmic event in the heavens only half joking that it will usher in the beginning of a new world. On a roof top in the town of Ashby, Isaiah Frey and his family do the same. Thus begins the steady reflection on the month past which not only marked Advent and the march to Christmas, but the sudden and untimely death of Adrienne, Donovan's mother, nine days before Thanksgiving. Donovan's mourning grows to encompass the sorrow and mourning of all around him, and as they come together at the birth of winter time, the observance of grief hints at a chance for rebirth and does not halt, but encourages new healing, new loves and the steady resolution to wait through the night for a new day. This is the fourth book following the lives of Donovan Shorter, Isaiah Frey and their loves, and the sequel to Warm Dark Stone.
