Book synopsis

Timothy Buchannan arrives in a small fishing village on a ravaged coast, hoping to make a home of an abandoned house. Struggling to bring the house under control, Timothy becomes interested in its previous owner, the enigmatic and absent Perran. As Timothy's obsession with Perran develops, he becomes increasingly entangled in the unsettling experience of life in the village and in the waters surrounding it. And while he works to make sense of the world into which he has been thrown, Timothy starts to examine how events in his past have brought him to this point.
