Book synopsis

It is a very nice book in which the authors describe, micro-alloyed SS316LN steels are expected to improved mechanical properties, compared to other steels, at liquid Helium temperature (i.e. 4K) and hence suitable for cryogenic applications such as: jacket materials for superconductor wires/strands. In this work micro-alloyed SS316LN is prepared in a vacuum induction melting furnace; Niobium and molybdenum in their ferroalloy stage are considered as alloying element. These micro-alloyed steels are then subjected to cold rolling and heat treatment to minimize stress and defects in cast ingots. Then after doing the various characterizations (XRD, SEM, EDS, Optical microscopy etc),chemical test (OES) and mechanical tests (Tensile test & Hardness) test it is found that these steels are more suitable for jacket materials for superconductor wires/strands.
