Book synopsis

Planted Architecture makes a solid argument that the best landscapes dont end at the front door. This fascinating book examines case study architecture and installations where the line between landscape and dwelling has been successfully erased. Startling solutions to site-specific concerns abound. Ferns take the place of traditional exterior sheathing for a house in Paris, while a Greek house is partially subsumed by the landscape and overplanted with drought tolerant grasses and olive trees and an Icelandic house achieves integration with the landscape by means of rooftop gardens. For architects, landscape architects, homebuilders and the botanically inclined, Planted Architecture suggests some very interesting ways in which we can live closer to the natural world.
