Book synopsis
Rick Shepherd's assignment ended in Cell A, with the cold closing over him and the voice on the intercom telling him it would be all right.
Then he wakes up.
The bed is narrow and unfamiliar. The hands aren't his. A calendar on the desk reads 1974-fifty-one years before the day he died-and the face in the shaving mirror belongs to a man named David Hartley, whom Rick has never met and now cannot leave.
The facility is the one thing that hasn't changed. The corridors under the ice run exactly where he remembers. The cells are still down there, and so is the daily procedure, and the hour it has to be done by. When the intercom crackles each morning the voice is warm, familiar, and certain that David is different from the others.
Rick knows better. He read the journals. He knows the script by heart, what the kindness is for, and exactly how a posting at Threshold Station ends. What he doesn't know is why he's here-or how many times he's done this before.
RECURSION is the second book of the Containment Trilogy: a claustrophobic descent into the years the journals came from, where every answer costs a life Rick has to live to the end.
No one arrives at Threshold Station. They return to it.
