Book synopsis

Schumann resonance is studied for more than a half of century. The area became known and popular among the researchers of terrestrial environment by using natural sources of electromagnetic radiation (predominantly, lightning strokes). Many Schumann observatories are established around the world these days. A huge amount of publications might be found in the literature, the most recent collection was presented in a special Schumann resonance section of the Radio Science journal in 2007. The massive publications impede finding information of how to organize measurements and start observations of the global electromagnetic resonance. Pieces of relevant information are scattered in many publications, not always available. The goal of this book is to collect all necessary data in the single edition, describe the demands to the necessary equipment and the field-site, the impact of industrial and natural interference, demonstrate typical results and obstacles often met in measurements. Authors list not only the representative results, but also describe unusual radio signals in the extremely low frequency (ELF) band and mention signals in the adjacent frequency ranges.
