This book explores the work of acclaimed photographer Thomas Ruff, renowned for his experimentation with contemporary photography. This volume traces the work of critically acclaimed German photographer Thomas Ruff, from his Substrat series (2002-03), which explores digitally-altered images culled from the web, to the Zycles, cassini, and ma.r.s series that draw on, and experiment with, scientific sources and photographs drawn from NASA's web archives. Together with colleagues and friends like Andreas Gursky, Candida Hofer, Axel HTTE and Thomas Struth, Ruff is part of a group of photographers based in Dusseldorf, which have revolutionized the world of contemporary art photography.
