Customers have learned to be more demanding about theirtrips. More and more they ask for better-personalized travelproducts instead of standard packages designed by touristoperators. This book, therefore, presents a personalized searchprocess delivering travel products exactly tailored to customers. Anovel model for the search process in e-commerce will beintroduced. This model will be applied to the tourism domain, i.e.each step of the search willbe examined in the context of tourism.A situation model adequately adjusted to the tourism domain willthen provide each stage of the search process with additionalsituational knowledge. Based on this, several components for adomain specific search in tourism will be introduced. Moreover, byusing preference search technologies as underlying basis for thesearch itself, best alternatives can be delivered in case there isno perfect match. It will be demonstrated that custom-tailoredtravel products with respect to preferences and situations can befound and presented to the customer in an intuitive, fast andcomfortable manner. This book addresses tourism companies as wellas related research communities.
