Anotácia knihy

Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE): A Practical Guide summarizes progress in AIE research over the past two decades, introducing readers to the topic and guiding them through the fundamental concepts to a review of the latest advances in applications. Through the years, AIE research has progressed from fundamental mechanistic studies, to design and synthesis of AIE luminogens, and finally materials development for a wide range of applications. The content and chapter arrangement of this book follows this flow of research progress to better facilitate the understanding of concepts in each area and stage. The book begins by introducing the concepts, principles and working mechanisms of AIE in AIE-active luminogens. Subsequently, different classes of AIE luminogens are reviewed, including polymers, three-dimensional frameworks (MOFs and COFs) and supramolecular gels. While AIE luminogens are reported for a wide range of applications, they can be generally summarized into four categories – (1) stimuli-responsive materials, i.e. AIE luminogens with other stimuli-responsive properties such as mechanochromism and photochromism; (2) biomedical applications (which include biosensing, diagnostic, therapy and drug delivery, etc.); (3) chemo-sensing (in particular environmental sensing); as well as (4) optoelectronics consisting of OLED and liquid crystal displays. Therefore, chapters regarding AIE applications in this book are clustered according to the four domains stated above. There is a special focus on structure-property relationship, the chapters review structural design strategies and correlate it to targeted properties and application performance. Aggregation-Induced Emission: A Practical Guide provides readers with a deep understanding not only on the fundamental principles of AIE, but more importantly, on how AIE luminogens and AIE properties can be incorporated in material development, so as to specifically cater for different needs and applications. Provides the fundamental principles and design and synthesis strategies of aggregation induced emission materials Reviews the most relevant applications in materials design for stimuli-responsive materials, biomedical applications, chemo-sensing, and optoelectronics Emphasizes structural design and its connection to aggregation induced emission properties and explores the structure-property relationship
