The collection considers the growing importance of the border as a prime site for state activity and the impact of such activity on human rights and global justice. It explores how state activity on the border simultaneously creates and responds to crime, criminalizing individuals who irregularly cross borders while ignoring far more harmful cross border activities committed by powerful actors.
