Anotácia knihy

Book Three of Changes Wrought picks up in November of 1917, as another Allied offensive grinds to a halt in the muck of Flanders. The Allies have suffered several hundred thousand casualties without breaking the German lines or capturing the critical U-boat base at Ostend. Field Marshal Haig tries once more before winter sets in, attacking near Cambrai where the terrain will support the weight of his Mark IV tanks. But when the battle ends seventeen days later, almost nothing has been gained.

Captain Pete Newin is still flying Sopwith Camels with No. 70 Squadron at Poperinghe Aerodrome. He avoids capture by the slimmest of margins and is later posted back to England as a flying instructor.

Lieutenant Harry Booth is an observer in the RE8 with No. 6 Squadron at Abeele Aerodrome. He receives orders for flying training and survives surly instructors and a mid-air collision before being sent home to recuperate.

Captain Ian Crosse is balancing his political aspirations with flying the SE5s of No. 84 Squadron. Back in England, he is given temporary command of No. 62 Squadron, which is equipped with Bristol Fighters and outfitting for overseas service.

Newly commissioned Second Lieutenant Mark Newin begins artillery training at Larkhill while still recovering from his leg injury.

As Book Three closes in March of 1918, the world awaits the first major German offensive on the Western Front in almost four years. Meanwhile, at home in Hampshire, Anya Shuvalova faces the most difficult moment of her life.
