Anotácia knihy

Human life is full of overwhelming experiences like §illness, death, injustice, mercy, despair, hope, or §love. Each of these experiences continually §challenges the meaning of life and therefore often §leads us to a struggle with the ultimate questions §of our existence. Having already accepted WHO we are §(our roles in society), every one of us eventually §has to come to terms with WHAT we are (making sense §of our roles, our lives, the whole cosmos). At the §heart of this thesis stands the question of how §Godwin s different characters in her novels 'The §Good Husband' and 'Evensong' try to come to terms §with WHAT they are. Whether they have an explicit §religious belief or make sense of their existence in §another way, all of them have reached a point in §their lives where they feel overwhelmed by various §circumstances and eventually open themselves up to a §reality beyond their inner boundaries. Their §examples can also help us readers to open ourselves §up to the ultimate questions. By seeing different §ways of both approaching and growing an inner §spirit , we might find our own way to do so.
