Although Ingmar Bergman (b. 1918) holds an undisputed place in the cinematic pantheon, mention of his name usually evokes images of monolithic doom and despair. This unique collection begins with an interview from 1957, conducted as Bergman completed his early masterpiece "The Seventh Seal", and ends in 2002 as he was preparing to direct his latest film, "Saraband". Throughout the interviews, the director discusses the various stages of his career, and the many surprising, thoughtful, complex, and profound facets of his work.
