In this work, the author attempts to initiate readers into the consistency and timeliness of Kant's thought by explaining the significance of his critical philosophy : in reexamining the conditions required for philosophic reasoning, Kant revealed the importance of judgement, reflection and sense perceptions. He replaced the exercise of reason in the concrete context of a subject whose perception is both unhindered and sensitive. The author shows us how, based on such premises, Kant developed a new concept of subjectivity - the philosophic legacy that he contributed to contemporary thought.Denis Thouard, a C.N.R.S. Researcher in Lille, coauthored Popularité de la philosophie (with Ph. Beck). His publications also include Critique et herméneutique dans le premier romantisme allemand, and Lettres édifiantes et curieuses sur la langue chinoise. W. von Humboldt/J.-P. Abel-Rémusat (with J. Rousseau).
