Fossil fuel continue to provide the largest percentage of energy for transport, industry and power generation. The emission of carbon dioxide, often more than 13 percent, from combustion of the fuels is a key threat that has been found to be the driving force behind climate change. Although efforts are underway to develop alternative fuels, fossil fuels will continue to provide energy in the short to medium term.
