Earl Jr. knows little of this except he was born in a one room log house built on the Fear's farm, but his family got enough to eat so that he wasn't brain damaged too early. Aunt Myrtle was a beautifully structured woman, and somehow got to New York City, took some kind of secretarial course, and found a secretarial job. She was intelligent, and learned to speak, read, and write proper English. She also learned the proper social amenities of the time.
