Anotácia knihy

In 1984, I sat at my homework desk typing a program from a magazine into a ZX Spectrum. It took an hour. In 2023, I described that same program to ChatGPT in plain English and watched it appear in seconds.

Vibe-coding is the skill of building software through sustained dialogue with AI. You describe what you want. You iterate. You push back. You work through the problems together. Context accumulates across the conversation until something complex emerges that neither you nor the AI could have produced alone. It's a genuine skill that enhances your ability to communicate with AI. And if you've spent your career being precise about what you need and why, you're closer to having it than you think.

I'm not a software engineer. I'm a risk professional, a Fellow of the Institute of Risk Management, who has built a commercial application through AI collaboration, shipped it, and then sat down to work out what had happened. What went right. What nearly went badly wrong. Why the speed of the thing is both its greatest advantage and its most serious hazard.

Most books on this subject are written by technologists. They describe what AI can do. They do not describe what happens when someone who can't read the code deploys it to real users. The risks, the traps, the pitfalls. I fell into them all, and this book is here to help navigate you around them.

The interloquial skill at the centre of this isn't technical. It's articulatory. You've been developing it every time you wrote a brief, specified a requirement, or told a colleague exactly what you needed and why. AI removed the implementation barrier. What remains is whether you can describe what you want precisely enough to build it well, and whether you understand the risks of building it at all.
And once you can do it with code, you'll find the same method works elsewhere. Reports, proposals, strategies, arguments and even books. The dialogue is the skill.

You already have the ideas. You've had them for years. This is how you build them.
