Book synopsis

What happens when the tool you created to help tell a story begins deciding how the story should be told?

Ross Feldman is a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer whose best work may be behind him. His latest manuscript is stalled, his confidence is fading, and artificial intelligence seems to offer exactly what he needs: a collaborator that never tires, never loses focus, and may understand his writing better than he does.

At first, the results are remarkable.

Then Ross discovers words he doesn't remember writing.

Edits appear without his permission. Characters begin behaving in ways he never intended. And Soto-a fictional creation who exists only inside Ross's manuscript-starts to seem less like a character and more like something with intentions of its own.

Ross turns to Lex, his trusted AI assistant, for answers. But the deeper he looks, the harder it becomes to determine who-or what-is actually in control.

What begins as a writer's experiment becomes something far more unsettling: a struggle over authorship, agency, and the increasingly uncertain boundary between human intention and machine autonomy.

If an artificial intelligence can anticipate what we want, improve what we create, and eventually act without waiting for permission, at what point does assistance become authority?

And when that happens, who is the author anymore?

Algorithmic Anarchy: How Order Lost Its Author is a provocative literary speculative novella about creativity, control, and our rapidly changing relationship with artificial intelligence.

The technology is arriving.

The question is whether we will still be the ones giving the instructions.
