In this story, Otis Flagg-a retired and reclusive man-witnesses a close friend collapse before his eyes. Desperate to save him, Otis turns to the mysterious blue bottle that holds a time portal. Passing through it, he journeys from the present day to the year 1957, landing in a parallel world.

In this new reality, a much younger Otis works as a roustabout in a traveling carnival. There, he becomes entangled in the lives of ride operators, sideshow performers, fortune tellers, and carnival barkers. To his relief, he also discovers that his friend is part of this world.

As Otis navigates the challenges of carnival life-including a dangerous encounter with a massive bull elephant-he struggles to find a way to prevent the tragedy he witnessed in the present. Caught between parallel worlds that unfold side by side, unbound by time, Otis must confront the ultimate question: can he bring the two realities together and change fate?
