Researches on intelligent optimization algorithm (IOA) and its application in manufacturing system are flourishing. But most works are about design or application an intelligent optimization algorithm to solve a specific problem. But how to select an optimal algorithm from dozens of algorithms for a specific problem and how to realize the improvement, hybridization and parallelization of the selected algorithm intelligently and automatically according to the requirements of the specific problems? There is no theory and method for references. This book is focusing these problems and aims to present a new dynamic configuration method for wide and high efficient use of different IOA in manufacturing system. The brief overview of IOA from different classifications is analyzed. The design process and application challenge of IOA in manufacturing system are investigated. Based on the overview of IOA in manufacturing system, the concept, principle and framework of configuration method for IOA are detailed. Then we elaborated the use of configuration method in the improvement, hybridation and parallelization of IOA for different complicated manufacturing problems. A few case studies about design and implementation applications of Configurable IOA in manufacturing systems are demonstrated in the last part of this book as guidance.
