[Dialogue, Narration, Transformation]§Martin Illert's study offers an overall assessment of the bilateral theological dialogues between the Evangelical Church in Germany, respectively the Federation of Evangelical Churches in the GDR, and the Eastern-Orthodox Patriarchates of Moscow, Constantinople, Sofia, and Bucarest in the period between 1959 and 2013. The study highlights the interplay of dogmatic controversies, historical and ecclesio-political contexts and changing visions of ecumenism. Illert interprets the dialogue-meetings as belonging to the particular genre of ecclesial encounters. The transformation process both churches enter by means of their dialogue is seen as the underlying theme of these interchurch-dialogues.
