El Capitan is a comic opera with music by John Philip Sousa and a libretto by Charles Klein. Set in 17th-century Peru, it tells the story of a Spanish officer, Don Medigua, who is tasked with guarding a valuable treasure from pirates. However, when he and his men are captured by the pirates, they must use their wits and resourcefulness to escape and recover the treasure.
