Before Jesus went to the cross to die for the sins of His lost sheep, He lifted up His eyes to heaven and prayed, what some consider to be, the greatest prayer ever prayed. He also prayed for those who would follow them by believing on Him through their word. He did not ask the Father to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil that was in the world. His purpose for them was to take His message into all the world. He had saved them and would save others through their word. His final request was that all those who had been given to Him might be with Him and behold His glory forever. He prayed that God might show His love to them, the same love that He had for Him.
