Dr.Chalapati s work explored and analysed the §internationalisation of higher education in §Thailand.Focusing upon case studies of English-§medium postgraduate business degree programs offered §by leading Thai universities, she mapped §the policy, institutional and curriculum dimensions §of rapid globalisation. Her research recognized the §advantages of local Thai alternatives to §international degree programs offered by overseas §universities but stressed that the benefits of Thai §international programs had yet to be fully realized. §She calls for a thorough rethinking of the meaning §of international education in the Thai context both §in theory and in practice. Policy makers, education §managers and educators must acknowledge§the importance of cultural knowledge in §curriculum design and classroom teaching. Not least, §she argues that Thai universities need to design §their own business curricula rather than import §foreign business education models §and texts. If Thailand is to derive the maximum §benefits on offer in the new global economy, this §book argues that Thai professionals must be able to §interpret the world from both Thai and international §perspectives.
