How do the most influential contemporary §approaches to moral education address the modern §predicament? What are the conditions imposed on §moral education approaches from the perspective of a §satisfactory answer to the modern predicament?§The book advocates a dynamic understanding of the §predicament that conceives it as the result of §conflicting goods that are all important for human §flourishing. Thus, the work argues that although the §most influential approaches to moral education today §(Values Clarification, Character Education, §Kohlberg's and Caring) suppose a stance §over the modern predicament, their answers are §unsatisfactory in a problematic way. Finally, the §book establishes the general conditions under which §moral education can satisfactorily address the §implications of the modern predicament so we can §find an acceptable answer to our contemporary §temper; a temper that highly values personal freedom §and also yearns for a sense of belonging.
