Rhinitis and asthma are familiar diseases which often have a common allergic component. In recent years, our understanding of the basic inflammatory mechanisms has improved considerably, as has pharmacotherapy. Rhinitis is usually treated by otolaryngologists, while asthma is treated by chest physicians.
