Rison's Way shows the different areas of the American West and the people who lived and died there. Some of the stories contain humor, some dark tragedy. The West was not just about cowboys and Indians, lawmen and outlaws. People went west to start a new life, or escape the old one. Every town had an assortment of blacksmiths, cobblers, peddlers of household goods, and shady characters. The characters in Rison's Way represent a cross section of American life west of the Mississippi in the 19th century. Some lived, some died, but all were searching for part of the American dream.
