Root resorption continues to be one of the most exasperating and least understood of the clinical problems in orthodontics. Why, in the treatment of apparently similar cases, treated in the same manner, do we see considerable variation in the extent and distribution of root resorption.Apical root resorption is one of the most common iatrogenic problems associated with orthodontic treatment.It appears that no clinician is able to avoid this problem completely. Consequently, a great deal of research has been published on this topic, particularly research undertaken from a clinical point of view. However, much controversy exists concerning its cause and predisposing factors.
