At 0530 on December 7, 1941, Chief Boatswain Edwin Hill was roused from his bunk aboard the USS Nevada. As he prepared for his day, Hill anticipated nothing more than the usual quiet Sunday. A short time later during the hoisting of the American Flag, as a droning sound became more prevalent in the skies overhead, Hill's world would change forever.

This fascinating biography begins by detailing Hill's Irish roots in Cape May, New Jersey, the country's first seaside resort. Hill embarked on a unique coming-of-age journey while living at the renowned Windsor Hotel.
