Gregory of Nyssa's mystical theology has its roots deeply embedded in Judaism (the 'Haggada' revisited by Philo) and spreads its shady canopy from the snowbound hermitages of Holy Russia to the arid slopes of Mount Carmel. It could irradiate our post-modern obscurity and make it glow with its own luminous darkness. The 'death of God' is perhaps a Revelation, the Revelation of God who is incomprehensible as love.
