Communion in the sacrament of the Eucharist is an ongoing ecumenical desire. The two renowned Roman Catholic theologians Joseph Ratzinger and Walter Kasper have contributed important writings to the Christian interdenominational ecumenical dialogues on the Eucharist. Today the reception of the ecumenical insights of Joseph Ratzinger and Walter Kasper can be utilised to enhance interdenominational dialogues among Christians of diverse traditions on the theme of the sacrament of the Eucharist both in Africa and in the entire universal Christian community.
